Gannett may make more staff cuts at newspapers, salary cuts at television stations - Denver Business Journal:

A report by the Gannett Blog on Friday referencews a memo from Gannetg CFO Gracia Martore thatprojects 4,5090 newspaper layoffs throughout the Gannett chain in July as well as a 10 percentt pay cut for its broadcast employees. The Gannettf Blog report also says Gannett workers will not face any more furloughsxthis year. The Arizona Republidc is the largest metropolitan daily inthe Va.-based Gannett chain. The Republic has already suffereds through layoffs and furloughs as the newspaper industrt struggles with poor advertising numbers and online Gannett (NYSE: GCI) announced Monday that president and CEO Craig Dubow will be on a temporargy medical leave of absence following back surgery.
Martor e is taking over as interimchief executive. Gannett has 41,000 employees company wide including at dailuy newspapersin Phoenix; Palm Springs, Honolulu; Mansfield, Ohio; and Des Iowa. The media conglomerate also owns TV stationsein Phoenix, Flagstaff, Washington Tampa and Jacksonville, Fla., and Minneapolis. Gannett officialx did not respond late Friday for a reques t for comment on the GannettyBlog report, which said the cuts would come July 8.
