Monsanto opens $6M water utilization center - Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle):

The $6 million center was designed for studyinf cropping systems comprisedof genetics, agronomic practices and biotech traitx including water-use efficiency technologies such as drought-tolerantg cropping systems. The center will help Monsanto advancw research to helpimprove farmers’ productivity in the Westerb Great Plains. More than 80 cropping and irrigatioj demonstrations are featured atthe 155-acre farm and learning The center will be hardwired to eventually conduct virtual tourzs of robotics and seed analytics facilitie in remote locations such as Monsanto’s breedingv facility in Ankeny, or the company’s Chesterfield, Mo., research facility.
Gothenburg Learning Center Lead Chandler Mazourd said Monsanto selected the site because of its location in the transition zone from dryland acres to irrigated acres on the western High Plains and that Monsanto needs that diversity to determinse how to use future technologies in addiny valueto crops. Creve Coeur, Mo.-based Monsanto Co. (NYSE: MON), led by President and CEO Hugh Grant, developsz insect- and herbicide-resistant crops and othed agricultural products. It is one of the largestr employersin St. Louis with 4,0090 local employees.
