To date, the project known as The Ridge has signed leases forroughly 18,200 square feet of space — out of the 68,000 square feet that is available in a two-story, retail/office property that fronts Loop 1604. Tenantsw already inked for The Ridge include the Rodrigoi PinheiroBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu studio — which is presently locatedf off of San Pedro Avenue and Brookhollow Drive in North Central San Antonio. The new site is set to open inearlyu July. Another Brazilian concept making its way to the Capoeira SanAntonio — an art form that combines martialp arts, dance, music and acrobatics.
The Ridge site marks the seconcd location for CapoeiraSan Antonio, according to Jimi Ellis, who is a principall in — the owner and developef for The Ridge. The Jiu-Jitsu studio and the capoeira studio willoccupy 2,200 and 2,000 square respectively, in The Ridge. Also new to The Ridgr are two high-end, “ultra lounges” as Ellis calls them: IVY Rooftol and Area 31. IVY Rooftop is the latesty venture for local businessman Terrin This ultra lounge will occupt a totalof 6,00o square feet in The Ridge. That figure includes the rooftopo bar that will be a key featureof IVY. A roofto bar will also be a drawing point for another upand coming, high-ene hot spot.
Area 31 will also occupu 6,000 square feet in The Ridge includinga 3,000-square-foot rooftop bar. Rounding out the new tenantzs at The Ridge is area dentis tJoshua Austin, who will open a new facilitt of 2,000 square feet. Jaimwe Castro is one of the owners/operator behind Area 31. Asked what inspirecd the lounge’s name, Castro says that the site of The Ridgde was a leading The project is located immediatelhy north ofLoop 1604, near Lockhill Selmas Road on the city’s Northwestr Side. The number 31 refere to Castro’s partner in the Former Kansas City Chiefs running back and local philanthropisttPriest Holmes.
Asked if he had concernsz about being in a center withanother like-minded Castro says that Area 31 and IVY will likelu help, rather than hurt each “There’s no reason why we can’ft feed off of each other,” he adds. Ellis’ thoughts “There is synergy in (having both says Ellis. “(IVY and Area 31) will survive, and probably Now add to thesew venues the other tenants that Design Investore is working to bring to TheRidged — including some new restaurants.
